OUR STORY
Where it started...
Ecoplasticity was born from a simple frustration: every "sustainable" coating asked manufacturers to accept worse performance, higher costs, or a complete retool. We refused.
Seaweed has been forming natural barriers for millions of years. We learned to apply it. Now we make it available to the packaging lines that feed the world.
"We didn't want to make a sustainable product. We wanted to make the plastic-free product — that happens to save the ocean and save our bodies from microplastics."
Our Solution...
We started with a simple question: how can packaging protect products without leaving behind plastic waste? For us, the answer came from something already washing onto coastlines in huge amounts: sargassum seaweed.
Instead of treating seaweed as waste, we use it as the foundation for natural barrier coatings that can replace plastic-based coatings in food packaging. Our goal is not to ask brands to completely rebuild the way they package products, but to give them a more sustainable material that can still perform in the systems they already use.
We want Ecoplasticity to feel like a practical step forward. It is a way to reduce plastic, make use of an overlooked natural resource, and help packaging move toward something cleaner without making sustainability feel out of reach.
